Nightlife

There 4 venues for Nightlife in Camps Bay that stand out and are worth the visit.

Season after season, Caprice is the standard by which most Camps Bay venues are measured.

In season, every night, anything could happen. De Niro, Hilton, Button, Slater – The young, the rich and beautiful have all been here, and those that wish to rub shoulders with them.

Dave Green, one of the owners has the best music ear I have heard for a DJ. Then there’s the legendary Socs (who I went to school with!) who defines Caprice late night, together with a host of other Dj’s and sharp barhands who grind out Camps Bays world class venue.
And if you are looking for a spot to watch Premier League Soccer, or other international sport, Caprice has big screens you can watch from every angle. For major events like the World Cup, they go to fullout, to meet sport lovers needs
Caprice understands its market and their needs and somehow like the Master gives it in spoonfuls

They are open 7 days a week full day till 2am, and are fully licensed. There no entrance fee, but expect queues and a wait on a busy night. Go early.

St Yve’s is a slick beautiful club, the newest of the 4 venues.
Sean Duvet is the force behind a club that has moved to the forefront of Camps Bay nightlifespeak (oddly enough our spouses have gone to birthing classes together! – yes we will both soon be fathers). Find their amazing program on Facebook on the St Yves Summer Sensations page.
The deck overlooking the ocean portrays the Ibiza lifestyle and hints at the class inside.
On Saturdays and Sundays they have a Fishbraai on that glorious deck.
Big score, they have Ibiza legends Goldfish playing, every Sunday till Feb. They start at 9pm

They are open from Wednesday till Sundays, from 6pm till 2am. Entrance is R100, charging from 8pm. Membership is available. No under 21’s. NB no credit cards are accepted for the entrance payment.

Karma Lounge on the Hout Bay side, upstairs in the Promenade Mall is the other nightclub of Camps Bay. Its slick and popular, a melting pot of world club culture. When I was there last, it had a Euro-international feel that seduces the senses.
In summer, we believe they’ll be doing sundowners and the view from their deck is so much worth more than a passing glance.

Dizzy’s is of a complete different flavour. Sports Bar, local hangout, pool table, beer den and local legend. Here, pretensions does not count so don’t expect slick.
They have music, bands or Dj’s every night except Mondays from 930pm.
However there defining event, for me, has always been Karaoke on a Tuesday night. They are open 365 days a year, till 4am. The restaurant takes last pizza orders at 2am, the latest of all Camps Bay venues (most stop food orders 10pm)
My staff don’t know it yet, but they’ll be up there in January performing.
